Abbey fall
The sight of water falling from a cliff with a height of 70 feet, surrounded by lush greenery is indeed a sight that will behold everyone’s attention.
The waterfall is a combination of many streams that come together and fall into a pool of water that flows and merge into River Kaveri. The scenic grandeur of Abbey Falls increases by many folds in monsoon. During Monsoon, the stream of water becomes thicker with louder roar. Adding to it is the richer greenery around, which does create sight of a lifetime.
Bhagamadala Triveni Sangama:
Bhagamandala lies at the foothills of Talacauvery, which is the origin of River Kaveri.
Triveni Sangam or Bhagamandala, symbolises merger of three rivers, as tri stands for three and veni stands for streams. This holy confluence brings Kaveri River, Kannike River and Sujyoti River together. Sujyoti River is a mythical river which is believed to be flowing inside the earth; it later merges with other two at the sangam, eventually flowing further with them.
Chiklihole Reservoir:
The reservoir has been made on one of the tributaries of the River Cauvery. Although the place is not as popular as other tourist spots of Coorg, it offers some good moments to its visitors. For those looking for some seclusion and privacy away from crowd, this is the place to visit. You are offered with worth capturing scenic beauty.
It makes for a great picnic spot and thus wonderful for family outing as well. View of the sunset from here is exceptionally captivating and mustn’t be missed if you are at the reservoir. It offers amazing photographic opportunities as well.
Dubare Elephant Camp
Located on the banks of River Cauvery in Coorg, Dubare Elephant Camp is one of the most popular tourist spot in Coorg. It attracts hordes of tourists from everywhere. The elephant camp boasts of plenty of elephants and offers tourists with an exceptional opportunity to be close to them and spend some memorable moments with them.
A project undertaken by forest department and jungle lodges and resorts, Dubare Elephant Camp is a perfect place for wildlife enthusiasts.
Harangi Dam
The dam has been built across the tributary of River Cauvery and has a height of 47 meters and length of 846 meters. It is one of the popular picnic spot with mesmerising natural setting and relaxed atmosphere. The place is comparatively less crowded and thus is perfect for those looking for some seclusion and private time with the nature. Soothing environment with gentle breeze greets as you enter the area around the dam.
Golden Temple
The Tiny Tibetan colony in here is an ideal escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The enclosed calm and the spiritual ambiance of the place welcomes all the visitors. The Tibetan Monastery is located around 6 km from Kushalnagar.
This Place is one of the largest Tibetan settlements in India. There are around 16000 refugees and nearly 6000 monks and nuns in this monastery. This Tibetan settlement at Bail Koppa or Bylakuppe is the the second largest Tibetan settlement outside Tibet
Honnamana Kere
The Honnamana Kere presents tourists with breathtaking sceneries and amazing photographic opportunities. The environment around is relaxing and calm. It is surrounded by majestic mountains, cliffs and huge expanse of coffee plantations creating a beautiful natural setting. Two hills named Gavi Betta and Mori Betta also cover the Lake.
Iruppu Falls
Falling from a height of 170 feet, Iruppu Falls is a sight worth remembering. A popular place to visit in Coorg, this waterfall catches everyone’s attention not only with its mesmerising beauty but with its thundering sound as well.
Kotebetta
Kotebetta is a popular tourist spot in Coorg. Kotebetta is at a height of approximately 1620m above the sea level. At a distance of 22 km from Madikeri, the Kotebetta is the third highest peak in Coorg region after Tadiyandamol and Brahmagiri.
An awesome place for trekking, Kotebetta is best for the activity during the months of October to March. Although, one doesn’t require any permission from the authorities to trek the hill.
Madikeri Fort
Madikeri Fort is one of the interesting places for sightseeing in Coorg. It was first built in the last quarter of 17th century by Mudduraja. There was a palace built inside the fort as well. It was rebuilt into fort of stone and bricks by Tipu Sultan, who gave for the name of Jaffarabad.In 1814, the fort was built with mortar and bricks by the Lingarajendra Wodeyar II.
Mallalli Falls
Mallalli Falls are located at the foot of Pushpagiri Hill Ranges . These falls are created when the River Kumaradhara flow down from over 200 feet creating a mesmerising scene which is worth remembering all our lives.
The place makes for good trekking with beautiful setting all around to accompany you. The fact that the falls are in the foot of the Pushpagiri peak makes the place a much adventurous trekking point.
Mandalpatti View Point
Mandalpatti is a popular tourist spot. A lush green mesmerising place, Mandalpatti has recently become popular amongst tourists. The place is way from the hustle bustle and offers some seclusion and calmness. It is perfect place to go for trekking.
Nehru Mantap
A popular picnic spot amongst tourists, Nehru Mantap is located near Raja's Seat which is in the town of Madikeri, on a hill.
Nehru Mantap promises tourists with some of the calm and relaxed time with refreshing natural setting to accompany you. Tired of crowd and hustle bustle, this is the place perfect place to enjoy some seclusion and privacy. The views of sunset and sunrise from here are exceptional.
Kaveri Nisargadhama
Formed by the main river of the region, River Kaveri, it is surrounded by dense forest. A popular weekend getaway in itself.
Established in 1989, it has been attracting tourists since decades now. Spread over an area of 64 acres, it presents an alluring natural setting where tourists can admire the sight of River Kaveri flowing gloriously through the dense forest, hear birds chirping, look the star-studded clear sky in night and wake up with soft rays on sun in morning.
It presents an excellent opportunity for tourists to have a close interaction with nature. Visitors can enter the reserve through the new hanging bridge, which is not to be confused with the old hanging bridge which is no more functional.
Omkareshwar Temple
Located in Madikeri, Omkareshwara temple was built in 1820 by King Lingarajendra II as act of penance. The temple was built in the Muhammadan style of architecture consisting of a dome in center.
Its four corners are surrounded by four turrets. Near the entrance door of the temple, a linga has been installed. Another attractive architectural feature of the temple is the water tank in front, which is inhabited by various different varieties of fish.
Raja's Seat
One of the popular tourist spots, Raja seat literally means “Seat of the Kings”. Located in the town of Madikeri, it is a beautiful place presenting a refreshing setting and soothing environment.
The place is called as Raja’s Seat because it was the place where Coorg’s kings used to visit and enjoy the beautiful scenic beauty around. The sunset and sunrise make for mesmerising view which is worth captivating in your cameras.
Talakaveri
Located in the Brahmagiri hill which is at a distance of 8 km from Bhagamandala .Talakaveri is said to be the source of River Cauvery. Although the source that is the flow of water is not always visible. During rainy season, one can get a glimpse of the same. River Cauvery is one of the seven sacred rivers of Sapta Sindhus belonging to the Hindu scriptures.
Pushpagiri
Pushpagiri (Kumara Parvatha), at 1,712 metres is the highest peak in Pushpagiri Wildlife Sanctuary in the Western Ghatsa. It is located 20 kilometres (12 mi) from Somwarpet in the northern part of Kodagu district on the border between Dakshina Kannada and Kodagu district and hassan districts. It is 4th highest peak of Karnataka.
Bisle Ghat
Bisle is a small village in the heart of south-western India's Western Ghats. The village is located in Sakleshpur Taluk.
It adjoins Bisle Reserve Forest, which has some of India's most spectacular rain forests. Near to the forest check post, a unique place called Mankanahilli lake, where the water from two different sides reaches differect direction. One towards Bay of Bengal and the other side towards Arabian Sea.
Battada Rashi
Which as small hill and beautiful place for trekking and it is joy to watch sunset and sunrise form the top of the hill. If you are lucky you can see some herbivorus wild animals too.
